Why The Cincinnati Model Railway Club Formed

The hobby of building model railroads is for all age groups and individuals. It is a fun hobby that a person can do for their entire life. All it takes is time, a little money, and the desire to learn all about model railroads. You will find that building and maintaining model railroads is not only fun but it is also educational. This hobby offers the opportunity for a person to build wonderful and unique friendships. People can come together with the same interest and form clubs such as the Cincinnati Model Railway Club.

Club Home

The Cincinnati Model Railway Club has been going strong for seventy nine years. They are located in Cincinnati, Ohio. This great club has had many club locations before finding a permanent location at the Harmony Lodge in Cincinnati. In the past, this building was the home of Cincinnati’s Masonic Lodge. One of model railroading’s longest surviving clubs, the Cincinnati Model Railway Club, has made its home in the lodge’s lower level. This location houses several train models built by the comradeship of this club’s members.

Preserving History

History is certainly being preserved by the Cincinnati Model Railway Club. This club is bringing into remembrance for everyone a piece of history that could of soon been forgotten. A person can look at one of their train models and easily see a train of an earlier era when times were slower and simple. It was a time when towns and cities depended on the railroad for transportation and business. Preserving history of the railroad and its many trains that rode the rails on hardened steel tracks is a very important thing and it is certainly what the Cincinnati Model Railway Club is doing.
