Live steam engines are a great asset to many rail transport providers across the globe. The steam produced from water subjected to high temperatures is used to power the train. It is an eco-friendly type of energy generation also. The Cincinnati Model Railway Club was started in 1932 in Ohio. It now prides itself of a large customer base owing to good service delivery and innovativeness in the transport industry.

Railroading or rail transport modelling is hobby that has been taken up by many people especially in the US. It helps people to better appreciate the mode of transport while having a prototype feel of what rail transport really can offer. Cincinnati Model Railway Club has been on the forefront to offer such services to its customers and in fact with much dedication. This is because over the last few years the use of rail transport has been dwindling and they thought that though rail modeling and the use of steam engine, they would rejuvenate their customer base and appeal more to the locals and even internationally. There are also many manufacturers of the rail transport models just to signify how important this is to the industry. The models have also been a major basis for the manufacture of most high-end trains in the world today.

The Founding of the Cincinnati Model Railway Club, A History is a interesting topic that truly has a merit. In 1932 a group of Cincinnati model rail road enthuses started the model railway club. In 1934 and employee of the B & O Railroad and president of the club named Mel Thornburgh formally founded the club.

Mel Thornburgh was completely devoted to his craft as he wrote many articles about building from scratch in the Model Railroad Press. Mr. Thornburgh has a scratch built locomotive, the Thatcher Perkins along with passenger cars on display at the National Model Railroad Association Museum.

The clubs first layout was located Downtown Cincinnati, on Sycamore Street until 1938. For the next decade the club inhabited Cincinnati Union Terminal where on New Year-s 1948 the layout was broke down into sections and stored. In 1952 the location of the clubs layout took up residence in the Norwood City Hall until sometime in the mid 1970-s. The club continues the meetings at the club member-s homes until 2001 when the club found the Harmony Lodge and settled in on the lower floor of the lodge.

The Cincinnati Model Railway Club has survived nearly eighty wonderful years.

Model railroads can be a fascinating hobby. (I know, because I once had one myself long ago, as a child.) Many people enjoy putting the cars and rails together and making elaborate buildings”including railroad yards and houses” structures” such as bridges and water towers” and scenery, such as a rugged mountain range, for the train to go through. And there are more than 300 model railway clubs today, where hobbyists can build more elaborate systems that any of them could construct alone.

One of the oldest such clubs is the Cincinnati Model Railway Club, founded in 1934 (about the time that model railroads became a hobby) by a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad worker named Mel Thornburgh, who served as its first president.Didn-t catch that? This explains it. The club was housed in several buildings until it found a permanent home in Harmony Lodge in 2001. The place was so named because two barbershop quartets once performed there. The club was instrumental in rescuing the Harmony Creek & Southern Railroad from certain death: An article appeared in the April 1956 issue of “Trains Magazine” describing the improvements made on that railroad, including replacement of the old rails with new, heavier ones and installment of new bridges.
